Question

Bubbling LED Kit

I just bought and set up my tank today. The LED lights were changing colors as described for about 8 hours. Now the red light is on constantly. I have unplugged it, plugged it back in, checked the connections and the red light only stays on. Can I order a replacement part? I threw away my receipt accidentally.

The power cord for the air pump doesn't go into the water. The pump remains outside of the tank. The only thing going into the water should be the tubing, attached to the air pump, running into the aquarium to the airstone.

I personally put the filter in the water so that the lip (where the water comes out of the top) is slightly above the water level. It will look as though it is a tiny waterfall when it is on. I am unsure if it specifies this in the instructions but this way works perfectly in my tank. :)

Hello,

Yes, water should come up and out of the fitler system. Murky water generally means you are either experiencing a bacterial bloom or have been overfeeding. With small tanks like this one, you should add only one small fish to start the tank, and wait about three weeks before adding another one. Feed once a day, one flake or pellet, for the first month. Once the tank is stable, begin feeding twice a day, one flake per fish.

In the meantime, remove about 1/3 of the water, and replace it with clean water that has been conditioned with Aquasafe +. This will help clear the water, and keep the fish safe.

Hello,

It may start fizzing a little bit, but it will take several minutes, maybe an hour or so to reach full function. Make sure you have adjusted the flow knob on the tubing properly.

You can start with one, wait a couple of weeks, add one more. Ideally, you want 1 gallon of water per one inch of fish, and a glofish grows to 1 3/4" in length. You can keep up to three but be prepared to do partial water changes a couple of times a week.

Question

How often should I change the water in my Tetra tank?

I have a Tetra "Bubbling LED Kit" 1 gallon fresh water hex tank with only 1 beta fish living in the aquarium. If I don't run the included filter or bubbler how often should I change out the water in my tank, and during the change, how much of the water should I change out (e.g., 30%, 50%, 70%, 100%)? If I do run the included filter and/or bubbler will I have to change out the water less often, and if so, how much less?

With the filter, change 25% of the water once a week. Without the filter, change 25% of the water twice a week. Once every 4-6 weeks, remove the fish and half the water and set them to the side. Stir up the gravel and then pour out the remaining old water, wipe the sides of the tank down with a papertowel. Be careful to not scratch the acrylic. Fill the tank halfway with new water at the proper temperature and add water conditioner, then put the betta and his old water (that he has been sitting in, waiting patiently) back into the tank.

Question

Air pump affect on fish and water changes

I just got the 1 gallon bubble kit tank yesturday, and I have two fish in it. They are new to the tank. They tend to stay around or under kind of the filter. Is this normal? Could this be because the air pump is two strong? Does it affect my fish? The back side of the air pump defenetly pumps out more air then any were else. Also when changing water how often should I change it. I don't want to traumatize my fish by changing the water and stuff. how often do I need to change the filter cartridge? I know it's a lot of questions but I really do need please.

Yes, the air pump could be stressing the fish or they could just be stressed because it is a new home to them. Place a few plants, tall ones, in front of the filter to try to break up the flow rate and make things quieter in the tank for the fish. Change 25% of the water once a week, replace your cartridge every 3-4 weeks.
