Should I turn off the LED lights in my tank at night?

Yes, your mother is correct. Fish need a day/night cycle just like all other animals. They should have light for no more than 12-14 hours a day.

Hello,
The item number for the hood part for the 20 gallon LED kit is PR01636. Please contact us at consumersupport@unitedpetgroup.com or at 1-800-526-0650 to inquire about receiving this part.

The 1.5 gallon LED bubbler is not available outside the kit but we do have similar LED Bubble Ring, item ML90532. These can be ordered through you local pet store. We do not have the pricing.

Lastly we do not make gang valves but you should be able to find them wherever air pumps are sold.

Question

I have a 1.5G tank and the bulb burned out. I cannot find a replacement.

We have had the tank for about a year and it has a 10W bulb with 2 prongs and not the LED lights that are in the tanks being sold now. I can only find 20W or larger bulbs with this connection type. My tank has only had natural lighting (and not enough of it) for a couple months now. Any suggestions?

Question

how many watts are each LED bulb?

I'm looking to get one or 2 of these for my 15 gallon reef tank (FOWLR, no corals to support) but it is 15 gallons deep and I was looking to see what the watt of the bulbs were and it says nowhere on the box or on your website. I found a retail store that carries them but I respectfully didn't want to open the box to investigate. Also is there a splash guard on the light or would I need a clear lid?

This light does not support coral growth and is designed for smaller aquariums as a general illumination fixture. There is a splash guard but a lid should be used with this light. Its color temperature is 6,000K and each LED is .06 watts. Watt is a measure of energy used, not light produced. When looking for a light you should ask to see PAR and LUX numbers to understand what light energy is being produced. As an easy reference, this will give you the light output between an incandescent and a single tube florescent fixture. Please visit our sister brand Marineland’s website for a more in-depth discussion on lighting - www.marineland.com.

Hello,

This is not an issue with the actual light bulbs, but with the transformer itself. These are a common type of adaptor so you might check with your local Radio Shack, etc. Alternatively, the tank does have a one year warranty. Simply fax us a copy of your receipt, and we can replace this for you. 1-800-433-8914. Include your name, shipping address, and a brief note.

Question

New clamp for larger fish tank

I would like to purchase a new clamp that attaches the light to the side of the tank. I got my LED light when I purchased the GloFish tank package (item # 29005 -- size 3), but now have upgraded to a larger tank. The clamp that came with the light does not have a large enough opening (where it fits over the side) to fit on the side of my 10 gallon tank. Can another one be purchased that will work with the larger lip of the 10 gallon tank?

Unfortunately no, we only have the one style of clamp that comes with it. We do, however, sell a lot of different LED lights that will fit your 10 gallon tank, even a hidden accent one, that tucks in under the frame. Most of them are under our other brand name, Marineland. You might take a look at that website as well, www.marineland.com

It is only around 5000K so no, not suitable for plants. Most of the ones you have are low light though, and they may live, but not grow or bloom under this light. We would recommend adding the Hidden Light by Marineland in the 17" size to really get some good growth, etc. They are our sister company.

You would use a gravel vacuum to remove 1/4 of the water each week, the fish would stay in the tank while you do this, and then you would pour your new water into the tank afterwards. There is no need to remove the fish during proper maintenance.

No. You want at least 2-3 gallons of water for every inch of goldfish, so this tank would certainly be too small for 2 goldfish, even juveniles.

You have a number of options. With the Universal Light though, you would need a glass canopy to protect it from the water. We also manufacture LED hoods that would fit your tank as well, through our sister company, Marineland. All LED lights come with a one year warranty, while incandescent and fluorescent light fixtures have a 90 day warranty at most.

Last, but not least, you can replace JUST the strip light on your hood, and not the cover portion. This costs about the same as a full hood, however.
